Reconfiguration and extension of a substantial early 20th Century family residence built in the Arts and Crafts style

The key objective was to remove a substantial number of layers and modifications generated over the last century and to both restore elements to the original character and produce a series of contemporary additions. Central to this was the glazing aspect of the project, as historically the property had original Art Deco Crittall windows, installing an alternative window type would be contradictory to the overall mission. The project involved removal of the since replaced uPVC windows to restore the original character of the property. When choosing the window frames for this order, the client carefully considered the style and choice of material since they have a dramatic impact on the look – personality – of the home; even increasing its value.

This project won ‘Best Installation Residential – Over £20,000 at the national 2023 GGP Installer Awards with the judges noting ‘We loved the unusual design on this project’
